Mr. Ufoma Joseph Immanuel
Managing Director, Chappal Energies
Mr. Ufoma Immanuel has a background in Investment Banking and Private Equity, having worked in the UK and the Middle East, prior to returning to Nigeria to work in Oil & Gas sector.
He was the former Head of Corporate Finance and Strategy at Eroton Exploration and Production the Operator of OML 18, which was a US$1.105 billion acquisition from SPDC. Post the acquisition, Ufoma led the transition team Eroton and oversaw the day-to- day management of hydrocarbon accounting, offtake and logistics operations alongside the development and management of the opex and capex budgets for the asset.
Ufoma conceptualized and executed the spin off from Eroton of a new US$200m venture, Energy Link Infrastructure (“ELI”), to develop an alternative evacuation system for the OML 18 JV crude oil. It involved the building of a 50-kilometre subsea 12inch pipeline connected to a dedicated 2-million-barrel FSO that was converted specifically for the project and moored offshore Bonny. ELI is the only Nigeria company to have a Terminal Establishment Order and Oil Pipeline License issued to a single entity and remains a pioneering development in the Oil & gas industry, the first of its kind setting the benchmark for infrastructure development related to crude evacuation. He project managed the development eventually leaving as CFO at the end of 2019.
Ufoma left ELI to found Chappal in 2020. An Economist by training, having studied at the London School of Economics & Political Science and University of Exeter in the UK, Ufoma is focused on the day-to-day management of the assets acquired by Chappal, driving the operational efficiency and creating value though operational optimization.
