Mr. Cormac McGarry
Director, Maritime Security, Control Risk
Mr. Cormac McGarry manages Control Risks’ maritime intelligence and security services, specializing in strategic advisory on complex and high risk projects from salvage in the Red Sea to cocaine smuggling and detention cases in Latin America, and piracy in West Africa.
Cormac is also an Adjunct Professor at SciencesPo Paris teaching commercial maritime security, has hosted and appeared as a guest on Encyclopaedia Geopolitica’s How to Get on a Watchlist podcast and features regularly in news media on behalf of Control Risks. Cormac previously worked in Tanzania, coordinating executive protection, crisis response and special investigations.
He also worked at the National Maritime College of Ireland, managing applied research projects with the Irish Naval Service and the broader European maritime community and served in the Irish Reserve Defence Forces as an NCO and artillery Gun Commander.
