Mr. Okey Onyejekwe

Professor Okey Onyejekwe is a renowned expert on Governance and Political Economy. He was a Professor of African Political Economy and Development at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio where he also Served as the Director Center for African Studies.
He Directed the Divisions of Development Policy and Management, as well as Governance and Public Administration at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia.
He has served on the Advisory boards of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation Index on Governance in Africa and the African Governance Institute (AGI), Dakar, Senegal. While at the UNECA, he led major initiatives such as the African Governance Report (AGR) and the OECD/Africa “Mutual Review of Development Effectiveness Report (MRDE). Dr. Onyejekwe has consulted widely on Governance for the World Bank, The Pan African Parliament (PAP), International Development and Research Center( IDRC), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IIDEA), UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the National Democratic Institute(NDI), The African Union( AU) where he served as an Independent Expert on the Drafting of the AU Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance(ACDEG).
He served as the Special Advisor on Governance and Strategy in the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in Nigeria from 2015 till 2019.
